Question: while using this dressing, will the patient end up with light greenish colored draining, no foul odor?? please let me know as soon as possible.or could it mean that there is some infection? patient is on calcium alginate dressing change daily
Answer:

Algicell Calcium Alginate Dressing is a highly absorbent, biodegradable alginate dressing, derived from seaweed.  It is therefore possible that the color you are seeing is inherent to the ingredient make up of the dressing.  Even though, alginate have been used in various forms for fifty years, it remain a poorly understood and compared to other wound dressings, the information is sparse and inconclusive.  Therefore, it would be wise to err on the conservative side and check with a physician.
