It was used to aid patiens with polimyotis during the 1800s. However,since this disease has been eradicated, the machine was not as popular as before . Thank you for the inquiry. The ron lung device used to maintain artificial respiration over an extended period of time. Before the successful vaccination program against poliomyelitis, it was used mostly in treatment of that disease. Currently, its main usage is in cases where the respiration control center of the brain has been damaged (e.g. skull fractures, brain tumors and stroke) or where the diaphragm is paralyzed by spinal cord disease or injury.

I have a Jazzy electric chair and a Toyota Prius, which has a 25.5" rise to back entrance. I have a 17" rise to the back patio and about an ll" rise to the front entrance to the house. I would like to have a ramp that would get me out the front entrance and into the rear entrance of the Prius, which cannot have a hitch for a lift.
